check the site out, stop wasting your time trying to get winmodems or those silly linux winmodem drivers to work, use the real thing and your problems are gone:

If you are using a winmodem modem, do yourself a favor and stop trying to fit windows hardware item into linux, get the real thing, for cheap: $15 US in this case.
