I need a new wireless G card. Any recommendations for best compatibility with the new release? My old Linksys (RT2500 type) won't work past 2005-3 and I am ready to move on! What works out of the box?

I had that chipset (pcmcia card died already), worked best with ndiswrapper. Fully stable. I did't like the included rt2500 module.

Just wondering if any usb ones work with linux, or it's best to avoid usb ones?

I use usb via ndiswrapper, my favorite driver mapper. As it works usally very stable.

Sooooo, should I buy another Linksys WMP54G, or is there a better PCI wireless card I should try instead?

I have played around with a few wireless cards in Kanotix. Any atheros chipset card always worked well (I used the airlink 101 super g) I recently tried another airlink railink chipset model. I had a heck of a time getting it in and compiled right but it did work eventually (rt61 module).

I recently tried a usb NIC from airlink (only 12 bux). It is supposed to be supported out of the box with the 2.6.18 Kernel or newer. I am using an older kernel on the Easter Release of Katonix. I found a website with drivers and instruction on how to install the usb NIC with the Zydas chipset zd1211b. It compiled and worked flawlessy. So I highly recommend the zd1211 chipset usb NIC's.
